This interview is an excerpt from Kevin Gianni’s The Healthiest Year of Your Life, which can be found at http://thehealthiestyearofyourlife.com. In this excerpt, Byron Katie shares on her moment of transformation and turning our negative thoughts and beliefs around.

The Healthiest Year of Your Life with Byron Katie, founder of The Work and author of three best selling books whose mission is to teach people how to end their own suffering.

Kevin: I want to talk to you about how you got to where you are now.

Byron: Excellent. So how I got here was I was extremely depressed. I didn’t know how people got there, the there that we all want to be, but I knew that if I didn’t know how to get out of that suffering, Kevin, I just thought you had to die to get out of that kind of suffering. For this I had no clue. I didn’t have a religious background, nothing, no one and my self esteem was so low that I actually slept on the floor next to my bed.

Kevin: Huh.

Byron: And I didn’t believe I even deserved that, to sleep on a bed. So, one morning as I lay sleeping, actually a cockroach crawled over my foot and woke me up and I opened my eyes and in place of all that darkness was a joy that I try to describe and I’m unable to, because it always falls short, but what I can tell you was the suffering was gone and it was so much better than anything I have ever experienced. In fact, it was really beyond experience . These thoughts hit my head just like they hit everyone. I was without thought. It was just that gap that Deepak talks about and all of a sudden all these thoughts just hit that gap and, Kevin, after seeing, you know, that moment without thought it was such an education that when the thoughts poured in I could no longer believe them. They were there. They were loud and clear and I began to laugh and laugh and laugh.

So I like to say I was born out of the laughter and it was long, long, long overdue and so to this day thoughts are my friends and I invite everyone to be a friend to thought, that thought is not an enemy. Our mind is not an enemy and I invite people to find out for themselves, to check it out for themselves and the way to do that is I offer people four questions, just four simple questions that you’ve put up against the concept.

For example, he doesn’t care about me, or she doesn’t care about me. It could be any concept, but if we look at that one the first four questions are: Is it true he doesn’t care about me? Can you absolutely know that it’s true? Third question, How do you react when you believe that? And that gives everyone the experience of noticing that all the feelings and everything they live out is in accordance with what they are believing and mind is cause and The Work – that’s what I call it – The Work it shows that clearly. Then the fourth question, who would you be without that thought? In other words, don’t drop the thought. Thoughts aren’t enemies. Just simply, who would you be if you didn’t believe that?

And then consider that and with meditation, all four questions and then I invite people to do the 180, the turnaround with it and turn it around. He does care about me and then get very still and notice all the feelings that surface around that. Just the idea of that, of confronting that, of looking at that and sometimes it takes a lot of courage to do the work, but it takes more courage not to. You begin to find examples of where he was kind. When the mind opens, it goes into a whole other polarity and there’s no trickery here. It’s the real thing, genuine. We don’t have to come up with untrue positives on views. We don’t have to be kind about it. It doesn’t take away the others. That’s not the point. It’s just we’re giving them a new view. Another turnaround is I don’t care about him and define examples of that and then we feed them to make amends and if we’ve hurt them to find how can we make this right? Another turnaround, I don’t care about me and my goodness, Kevin, when some of us look at that it’s like oh, my goodness. How can I expect him to care about me when I don’t care about me? No one would see me in the horrible way, the distorted way that I viewed me, but I didn’t have The Work, so I had to continue to believe my thoughts about this wonderful, wonderful human being called Byron Katie, that I’ ve come to respect.

Kevin: So, Katie, how did it develop? Did it come from that moment?

Byron: It came from that moment.

Kevin: Okay.

Byron: I would tell people, “Your thoughts aren’t true, you’re thoughts aren’t true and they would look at me like “Oh, my gosh. She’s crazy.” But still people wanted to know this freedom. I was such a turnaround that my family didn’t recognize me. My friends didn’t recognize me . I was agoraphobic. It was very difficult for me to leave my house, even my bedroom more often than not. So here I am with my doors wide open, people traveling in from all over the world to see what this experience was about and so when their minds were open to it I would help them. They couldn’t hear their own thoughts, so I would invite them to put their thoughts on paper and try to find, what I call, a judge of the world worksheet and they would write their thoughts down and because they were doing it themselves, they really got that these were the thoughts that I, myself am thinking. So when they wrote them down they had to own them when I questioned “Is it true?” Is it true the thing you believed all your life? Are you sure it’s true? Do you believe everything your mommy told you?

Kevin: Wow.

Byron: Basically they do.

Kevin: Processing and evaluating your thoughts to some can be a scary thing. I think it is to me sometimes.

Byron: Oh, my goodness. You never know who you are without your thoughts, but what I can tell you, Kevin, from my experience and the experience of millions of people that are doing to work is they always come out as kinder human beings, more open, more prosperous, healthier and I went from this more than 200 pound woman that couldn’t move to literally not fat. My heart rate — the physical body has everything to do with what you believe in.

Kevin: Let’s talk about that now. What do you think is the role between emotional health and your thoughts and physical pain, physical ailments, physical manifestation?

Byron: Well, when we believe our thoughts we suffer and when we question them we don’t suffer. I have come to see that this is true for every human being. So any time we’re confused and I’ve noticed the confusion is the only suffering and any time we’re confused I invite people to put it on paper. Any time you’re confused, you put it on paper and then just simply put it up against these four questions and the questions are always free on my website. You don’t have to sign up for anything. You don’t have to log in. There they are front and center and it tells you how to work them and it has everything to do with emotional health. It’s like the third question: how do you react when you think the thought they don’t like you? What happens? What happens, Kevin? When you got back to middle school or the yard when you were five or six years old or a teenager, what happens when you think the thought they don’t like me?

Kevin: You kind of walk away or kind of put your head down.

Byron: You walk away and you kind of put your head down. Okay, that’s how we react when we believe that thought. So that’s emotional. So what happens, it doesn’t end there. When you believe that thought the next time someone just looks at you in the classroom you think they’re one of them and then you go home and your mom is really happy to see you, but your self-esteem is low and you think “How could she? No one does.” I mean it begins to transfer our whole lives. It makes up our whole life and we have just looked at one stressful thought. “They don’t like me.” Now, who would you be on that same playground or whatever images you were picturing — you see that little boy?

Kevin: Mm hmm.

Byron: Okay, look at the same exact situation. Who would you be without the thought the thought “They don’t care about me?”

Kevin: So without that thought “They don’t care about me,” just, I guess playing with them.

Byron: You’ve got it. So what we’re learning here, Kevin, from you, is that what we are believing dictates our emotional life and what we’re believing in our emotional life dictates the world for the rest of our lives. It’s like if you look at your life prior to believing they don’t care about you, oh, what a happy little guy and then little kids don’t have The Work and big kids don’t all have it, but even if they turn that around “They don’t care about me,” turn it around, “I don’t care about them.” Look at me. I’m the one walking away. I’m the one that won’t talk to them again, because I’m believing they don’t care about me. I’m the one not caring about them, because of what I believe and they don’t care about me turned around, I don’t care about me. I’m costing me my life on the playground, if nothing else. I’m costing me my friends and associations and play time and our whole life and another turnaround is, “They do care about me.” And then just get still and look at that little boy and see what he missed. It won’t change your whole life today, because we are that little boy until we go back and take a look and get it squared away and we can do it from a chair. We can change our whole life from where we sit and he can go back and actually, you can see. They’ll say “Come on, come on.” You think “Oh, they don’t really care about me. They’re just trying to be nice.” It’s like as though we see them as liars, but if we go back, we can hear them calling and we don’t have to imagine it, even though imagination is everything. We can go back to how we saw reality and we can hear the people we ignored, because we were so into believing the thought “They don’t like me.” So in a nutshell that’s The Work and it is. People try to change their life and life isn’t going to ever change. It doesn’t change. We still have war on this planet. We haven’t really advanced. There is only one way to change the world and that is to do the inner work and end the war with the self and then everything that is projected out of it, the entire world shifts when you do. That is how to change the world.

Thoughts on Cassel going to Hawaii
The Kansas City Chiefs have officially announced that quarterback Matt Cassel has been named to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii on Jan 30. Cassel replaces an injured Tom Brady (didn’t that happen somewhere before?) as the No. 1 alternate. The following are some random thoughts on Cassel’s promotion: This is a nice reward for a player who made great strides in his second season in Kansas City. Cassel …

Free your mind and travel through the infinite possibilities of thought. You will see how multifaceted you can use the powerful tool that is lying in your hands. Every individual person is naturally able to change his own reality. Discover the power of thought and combine it with the strength of your will and all your wishes and deisres will be already on the way to be part of your life. You are able to increase your standards and live a fulfilled life.

The main reason, which holds people back from their goals is lack of concentration. Once you fell a decision the first thing you need to do is to protect yourself against inner and outer disturbances. Every hint of thought, which disapproves your wish will baffle the process. This derangement represents parasite frequencies in your brain waves, which manipulate your thoughts. Negative thoughts are the main cause to disturb the concentration, so that you cannot focus on your wish with enough decisiveness.

The brain reflects the incessant process of thinking through brain activity. You need to give your brain orders in an appropriate language so that it is able to execute your commands. The only language, which your brain understands is Thought. You can reach your inner sub conscious self through thoughts.

The inner mind-map is set by our sub consciousness as the sum of all the information we experience through our lifetime. We know that the inner mind-map of our self in its sub conscious state constitutes our attitudes and character traits. And again we know that our identity which is mirrored to our outside environment is constituted by these attitudes and character traits. This means that if you want to change your life or if you want to change the way how other people perceive your identity, you first need to change your attitudes and character traits.

All human beings do possess the ability to change his inner mind-map, because they do possess the power of thought. We want to get to the bottom of this, by telling you how you can use your thoughts in order to profoundly chance your life and live it the way you want. This treasure is naturally lying inside you: your thoughts. Here you will get some examples about how to take advantage of this natural property. Thought has the absolute authority over the brain and over the sub consciousness. The brain again has the absolute authority over reality and over the reflection of your identity in the outside reality.

So, if your thoughts can control the brain and the brain, which again controls and constitutes your reality, we can say that you can easily control and constitute your own reality. If we go a step further we can also say that you alone are responsible of your own reality. If you are sad, then its you, who makes you sad. You are only looking for outside reasons to blame them for your sadness, but in truth all is in your hands. You decide whether you want constitute your reality upon happiness or sadness. Today, with quantum physics science has reached the point where this undeniable fact is approved. Science as well as psychology has approved that: thoughts create reality.

The reality you live in, reflects your thoughts. If you don’t like your reality and want to chance your life, you simply have to change your thoughts. We want to give you advices how to practice this in your everyday life. With these concentration and everyday practices you will gain control over your thoughts and hence over your whole life.

We want to convince you of the powerful instrument that is lying in your hands. Your thoughts are the main tool to control your feelings, attitudes and your reality. If you use this precious tool knowingly, consciously and wisely, you can take it for granted that you will succeed. You will soon discover the ability that you are indeed able to attract everything and everybody whenever, where ever and to what extent you like.

The flow of your thoughts actively creates your life. When you get experienced in consciously giving direction to the flow of your thoughts, you will automatically take control over your life. You only need to control your thoughts the rest will happen almost automatically. If you are honest to yourself, you will realize that right now your life is not controlled by your thoughts. It’s rather controlled by coincidences and many public manipulations. Take it seriously, practice regularly and you will create advantageous opportunities into your life, which will bring you nearer to your wishes. Your will approach to your desired way of life with every passing day.

Realize! Believe! Know! … andyour wishes simply become your everyday reality.

Want it and you will get it… for sure!

Are you ready to get to the secret of how to include this indisputable knowledge into your everyday life..?

Even though the human brain does never stop thinking, it does not care if your thoughts are actively or passively created. Unfortunately the majority of people does not consciously apply the process of thinking. Therefore their thoughts are passively pushed in every direction. In these cases the person cannot focus on his own particular wishes. If you don’t have a proper opinion about what you really want, your thoughts will be scattered over and over again. Here are some practices, which you will learn active thinking with.

It is just a question of concentrating on the right thought. At the beginning it is important to take your time. You need to be experienced in controlling your thoughts in order to go on with the next steps. Everything will be based on this foundation. For this purpose you should seriously plan into your day enough free time, where you can just relax and have a couple of minutes or maybe an hours for yourself. At the beginning you should practice every day. If you want to be successful even faster, you should repeat this practice a few times per day. There is not a lot of time required, you can already plan at least two free times to practice, when you get up a few minutes earlier and also go to bed a few minutes earlier.

a) Detecting
If you want to concentrate your thoughts properly, you first need to detect your true wish. Find out what you actually want for yourself, what you want to achieve in life, what are the most important things for you in life. With these kind of questions you slowly but surely give directions to your thoughts and start to draw your mind-map consciously. Every person has different desires in different areas of life. However, it is recommended to concentrate on one after the other. Your thoughts shouldn’t be scattered over different areas, as then the brain activity cannot reach its full potential according to a particular topic. First be clear about what you want in different areas of life, but then try to achieve them one after the other, unless it is possible to combine them.

Schedule your free time to make sure that you can take enough time for yourself as required. How much time you need depends on the strength of your will. The strength of will holds your thoughts together and maintains your concentration. You should plan at least twenty minutes for your daily concentration practices.

Try to repeat these questions a few times a day. After a couple of days your brain will learn these questions and will automatically look for answers. You can be sure that you will find your answers. If you are sincerely addressing your inner knowledge, it never leaves you without an answer. The repetition has another advantageous point. Your brain will start to automatically prepare for the next concentration exercise already a couple of minutes before, so that your concentration will be ever easier to be maintained.

Before starting to gather your concentration, first of all try to get rid of your daily struggles. If you realize that there are issues troubling your mind very much, don’t loose time with ignoring them. First of all concentrate on them and ask yourself, why these things don’t want to leave you in peace. Troubling thoughts are nothing negative, they only wait for the right time to call attention to themselves. Your concentration practices are this kind of right time they are waiting for. Just make towards them and listen to your own complaints. These complaints can give you some really good ideas about what is going on in your inner world. So, don’t ignore them and listen to your own thoughts arousing from inside.

After your complaints are calmed down, you will start with a fresh and strong concentration. While you ask yourself questions about what you truly want in life and want for yourself, you will also take notice of these complaints, which aroused just a few moments ago. By concentrating first on troubling thoughts, you actually widen your inner perspective and become more alerted and sensitive to inner voices. Now there is nothing standing between you and your concentration practices. Take as much time as you need, in order to detect your real wish. Your true wishes always have the highest priority in your life, if you want it or not.

b) Visualizing
Once you detected your wish, now you can try to visualize the pictures in front of your inner eye. Try to see as much details as possible. While trying to see the pictures and symbols inside, make use of your feelings. Only go on with the next step, when you make sure that you have a clear idea of what your wish is. Ask yourself what kind of emotions you feel when thinking of this wish/ when looking at this picture or listening to this sound?

If you realized what you truly want and if you are really convinced that this is what you truly wish to achieve in your life, go now even a step further and feel it as if its totally real. Imagine that your wish has already come true and start to feel it in your reality. How does it feel?

Visualize all the activities you will do when your wish comes true and actively think that your wish has already come true. Enjoy the pictures which are floating in your mind and know that they are already real. It’s just a question of time, when these scenes appear in your reality. They are in your mind, so you can be sure that they are already in your life. Try to catch these pictures and feel all the emotions as real as they are.

Live the moment… KNOW that it is real… Enjoy this mental trip.

Be sure that soon or later but for sure these emotions, these activities and all these scenes will become true.

c) Formulating
When you have successfully experienced the emotions in the step of visualizing, move on to the next step. Here you need to give the pictures you’ve seen in your visions their particular names. You need to define your inner pictures, voices or symbols, so that they can be memorized next time easier. But especially naming is important for your thoughts to be identified again next time. This way you make sure that your concentration exercise will make an ever increasing progress.

Now, take your favorite scenes again in front of your inner eye. Visualize all detail as real and close as possible. At the very moment, when you feel most comfortable in a scene give it a very specific name. Repeat the name a few times and then let the sound of the name die away inside you and absorb it with all your body.

If you like you can invent some new words, or just use some word which you like the sound of. The meaning is not important, because you anyway give it a new meaning by this very procedure. So, take whatever you like. It might also be a sentence or maybe a sound. It’s only important that you can repeat it next time, when you need to remember this vision with all its feelings, pictures and sounds again.

Go through several pictures or scenes in your mind the same way and name them one after the other. Go on with this as long as you want. At the beginning we recommend not to formulate sentences/words for more than five scenes/pictures in your mind, as otherwise the effect loses its impact and you get confused.

Conclusion:
When you start to ask yourself question as in the first parts of the practice, this pumps electrical impulses and blood into very new regions of your brain. That way new areas of your brain are activated, which were not used before. You increase your brain capacity and use more of your ability. When you continue with naming your visions, you set the bases for your new thoughts. This ensures that your thoughts are not flying away or that they don’t remain unrealized. By giving your wishes and desires an identity by naming them, you create the foundation to manifest your thoughts.

Your standing the conference room with all your peers looking at you as your about to give your big presentation. You were so confident that you were going to nail this, you’ve prepared for weeks. Then you start thinking “I’m going to mess this up and fail big time”. It is fair to say that people do have an inclination to think a certain way and have repetitive thoughts about events or situations that bring on anxiety. The thoughts can be so repetitive that they mess up your ability to finish tasks, thus creating more anxiety and panic within us. This type of thinking can become a terrible cycle that can be very difficult to undo.

So how can people that suffer from repetitive anxious thoughts eliminate the intensity of the thought?

1) An anxious thought enters your mind and whatever the thought, the sequence of feelings is always the same.

The anxious thought comes in and you instantly react with fear. The fear you just felt sends a shock through your nervous system to the pit of your stomach. The reaction you’re having within your body makes you think of the thought over and over. The stronger the thoughts become the more your mind and body start to lose control completely.

2) You start to question the thoughts, sometimes for an entire day. The more you think about the thoughts the harder it seems for them to go away.

Why am I thinking about these thoughts? Why can’t I get this feeling to go away?

3) How do you start to eliminate the unwanted anxious thoughts?

Don’t force the thoughts away, this is very important. Allow the thought to come in, the more comfortable you are with them the better. The thoughts will not go away fully, but you can change the way you react to them. When you become able to change your anxious thoughts the more free you become of them.

The most important thing to remember is everyone, and I mean everyone has anxious thoughts. Most people as they have the anxious thought usually just think their just crazy thoughts and push them out of their mind immediately. They see it for what it truly is a fleeting anxious thought and they just ignore it. To people who have anxiety the anxious thought fuels out of control thoughts. Choosing how to react to your anxious thoughts are key for reducing anxiety.

Try to observe the thought you are having and then label it. By labeling the thought you are calling out were the thought is coming from, as in fear. Next, watch how the thought passes through your mind and don’t judge the thought just watch it. Finally move your focus on to whatever you were doing when the thought came into your mind.

Anxious thoughts are hard to deal with especially for the already anxiety ridden person dealing with them. Just like anything else in life it takes practice and patience with any new thing we learn, yes even techniques on reducing repetitive anxious thoughts. If you would like to take a more in-depth look at these and other techniques you can follow this link http://anxietypanic.weebly.com.

I myself have lived with anxiety for many years and wish to help people as much as possible deal with this disorder.

In my work on the dynamics of smoking, I have found that a smoker exerts a strong mind over matter effect on the body to allow themselves to smoke which in turn makes it difficult to simply stop smoking. Smokers have created a Psychological Smoking Mechanism to mentally suppress the normal body defenses to hot polluted smoke entering their delicate lungs. How is this possible?

It is well established in psychology that attitudes and beliefs affect thoughts. Thoughts in turn, affect our behavior, our bodies and even our state of health. But what if thought was more powerful than just affecting behavior and our personal well-being? What if thought actually affected matter outside ourselves?

Sounds like science fiction doesn’t it? We tend to believe that our thoughts are our own and have no force outside ourselves but research in Quantum Physics suggests that this notion is not correct. We are electromagnetic beings and our thoughts radiate out from us like a broadcast signal impacting things inside us and around us. Although we would like to believe that our thoughts are “private”, research has shown that thought DOES affect matter outside of ourselves. This gives a whole new meaning to “watch what you think!”

A very exciting body of scientific research has demonstrated the effects of thoughts on water! In this article, we will explore a characteristic of water that is not usually considered. Water stores thought energy and this energy impacts whoever or whatever uses the water.

Water is Dull and Wet!

When most people think of water, they think of it as a dull, uninteresting liquid. I don’t know how many people over the years have told me that they don’t like to drink water. Yet, water is necessary for life. In fact, our bodies are made up of about 70 percent water. A person can go a long time without eating but not without water.

Rather than being dull, there appears to be a great deal more to water than a simple combination of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Water appears to be a storage device and can be programmed by thought.

Water Gets a New Publicist

Research on the effects of thought on water has been around for a long time. But no one outside of scientific circles knew about it. It wasn’t until 2004, when the public was introduced to the impact of thought on water with the release of a movie called What the BLEEP Do We Know!? This movie was an introduction to concepts of Quantum Physics and presented some very fascinating ideas. The movie also introduced the work of Masaru Emoto, a Japanese man who discovered a way to visibly demonstrate the effects of thought on water!

Why was Masaru Emoto so interested in water? He had suffered from foot pain and a friend at his office had given him some water that had been specifically programmed with thought energy to heal his pain. Mr. Emoto, rather skeptically used the water and the pain went away. He was intrigued and had to know more.

Mr. Emoto was not scientifically trained but he knew there had to be a way to demonstrate the impact of thought on water. One day, he had the inspiration that the quality of water could be determined by crystallization.

The Method

Although Mr. Emoto was not trained in science, he knew a coworker that did have this training. When he told the coworker he wanted to take pictures of water crystals, the man said based on his experience, it was not possible. However, Mr. Emoto was confident it could be done and determined to do it. He kept encouraging the doubting researcher and eventually convinced him it could be done.

After two months of struggle, the first water crystal picture was taken. Over time, the method was improved and many water crystal pictures have been taken some of which were shown in the movie, What the BLEEP Do We Know!?

What Did Emoto Find?

Masaru Emoto discovered that water subjected to positive thoughts formed beautiful crystals and water exposed to negative thoughts formed either no crystals or deformed ones. He concluded that the water was affected by thought.

His further research showed that different thoughts could be stored in water and have a positive effect on the human body just as he experienced with the removal of his foot pain. Of course, many people may think this ridiculous but research shows the properties of water ARE affected by thought and other forms of energy such as magnetic fields.

Scientific Research Demonstrates Emoto is Correct!

Lynne McTaggart wrote an excellent book called The Field. This book deals with research findings in Quantum Physics. A body of research presented in the book that clearly supports Mr. Emoto was conducted in the 1960′s by biologist Dr. Bernard Grad of McGill University in Montreal.

Dr. Grad wanted to see if people can actually transmit healing energy to others. Rather than using person to person contact, he decided to use plants. This was a control method to eliminate the placebo effect.

In the first part of his study, he decided to make plants ill by soaking their seeds in salty water which retards growth. He had two experimental conditions. In the first, the control, he just had a container of salt water. In the second, he had a person known for “psychic” healing lay hands on the salt water container. Afterwards, the seeds were divided into two groups and soaked in the plain salt water or the treated salt water.

The results were unexpected. The seeds soaked in the water treated by intense thought grew taller than the untreated batch. It was a tightly controlled experiment and the results demonstrated that whatever the “healer” did to the water, was reflected in the improved health of the plants!

What Happens with Negative Thoughts?

In his first study, Dr. Grad demonstrated the effects of positive thoughts on water which had a positive effect on the plants that used it. He hypothesized that if the effect in the first study was accurate, that the opposite would occur with negative thoughts.

Dr. Grad decided that the best source of negative thoughts was disturbed psychiatric patients. One patient in his experimental group was diagnosed with psychotic depression and was noticeable more depressed than the other patients. He had each patient hold containers of plain water and marked them to know which patient held which container. He also used untreated water as a control. When Dr. Grad used the water to sprout seeds, all the water samples held by the psychiatric patients produced poor growth but the water from the extremely depressed person suppressed growth!

Again, these were plants and not subject to the placebo effect. They were being affected by the water that had been simply held by psychiatric patients. In other words, the patients were doing nothing more than being themselves and the water was affected!

Test Equipment Confirms Change in Water

Dr. Grad had much more scientific resources available to him than Masaru Emoto. Using infrared spectroscopy, he discovered that the water treated by the healer had minor shifts in its molecular structure and decreased hydrogen bonding between the molecules. This is the same thing observed when water has been exposed to magnetic fields. Thought DID affect the water!

This fits in nicely with the beautiful crystals (Positive Thoughts) versus the deformed or no crystals (Negative Thoughts) found by Emoto.

Conclusion

Research demonstrates that thought affects water and water retains this change. The water in turn, affects whatever uses it. Since our bodies are about 70% water, it is likely that our thoughts, both positive and negative, affect this water which in turn reflects back to us.

It’s been well demonstrated in psychology that negative thoughts adversely affect health. Perhaps the effect on the water in our bodies is one way this happens.

The important lesson to learn from this research is that thoughts are powerful and affect us. It is important to make sure our thoughts are positive thoughts!

The faculty of thinking or reasoning in support of any object and subject of the world are logical or scientific thought. The faculty of thinking or reasoning in support of spiritual issues is spiritual thoughts. The product of mental activity with which we think about ourselves and God is called spiritual thoughts. The spiritual thoughts are different from the spiritual wisdom and logic or scientific thought.

Feelings of self and spiritual wisdom are related to God now. The spiritual thought is the collection of our submission on the issues and is linked to past or imagining the future. Spiritual thoughts are spiritual wisdom from the holy books of faith as the Bible, Koran, Gita or say holy people. The spiritual thoughts are creating our state of mind that the spiritual wisdom itself comes from the inner consciousness.

The thought that identifies the body with a lot of things and objects of the world are called logical or scientific thinking. The thought that snapped our identity with the body with a lot of things and objects of the world are called spiritual thoughts. The spiritual thought leads us to raise awareness and experience the true identity with itself. . All thoughts of inspiration, education mantra, and spiritual growth are spiritual thoughts.

Good life in happiness with spiritual thoughts. Many people living in the crisis of the illusion of knowledge, in the same place and similar situations. What you see with your eyes and hear with their ears is the system of logical thought. How do you feel and look beyond their experience with their eyes and hear with their ears is the spiritual thought. The sages say that the system of logical thought are simply illusory knowledge, perception, and will continue to evolve with the transformation of the mind. The wise live with the system of spiritual thought of all things essentially the base and their properties.

To purchase a system of thought of many things spiritual, we must study the basic substance of things and their properties and to download our attachment and hatred with her thoughts. To acquire true spiritual thoughts, we must explore the inner self which is created and its properties. Any system of logical thinking learned in a university is entitled to see with eyes and sight, hearing and order his thoughts. Therefore, the knowledge gained through the senses – an illusory consciousness.

As the system of the mind continues to transform the experience of age and education in college, all systems of human knowledge continues to evolve. What civilization is to continue to grow and learn new ways to study the basic substance of many things that are made and their properties, including the system of thought of human civilization, always changing?
. The sages say that the system of logical thought is simply our knowledge, perception, and will continue to evolve with the transformation of the mind.

The sacred books of different religions are a source of spiritual thoughts and the actual properties of many things and be inside. However, feeling, high level of meditation is necessary. The simple understanding of the significance of the eyes and ears is purely theoretical thought out. Therefore, many religious scholars are devoid of certain spiritual thoughts

Woo-Woo Person: “I’ve been doing all the visualizations, affirmations, and negativity purging; but nothing is happening. I’m still broke!”

Prosperity Mentor: “Does your thinking lead to any ACTION?”

Woo-Woo Person: “Well…not much, yet. But isn’t the time and energy I spent on the other stuff enough?”

Prosperity Mentor: “If your thinking doesn’t lead to action, how can you be prepared to jump on opportunities that lead you to your dream life?

What can you give now to the person capable of giving you what you desire? Remember, that person will expect something in return. And that something must be of equal or greater value.

Do you have it?”

Woo-Woo Person: “Hmm…?”

The Woo-Woo Person is at one end of the “Think – Do Spectrum”. The other extreme is the No-Think, Purely Practical Person (but that’s a discussion for another article.)

The Woo-Woo Person believes that thought is all that’s needed to manifest his desires. But when Woo-Woo People aren’t manifesting their desires, the big question is this: Are they really thinking in the Certain Way? That is, are they thinking in a way that serves them best; a way that ensures prosperity, a way that is congruent with their whole being? And most importantly, does their thinking lead to ACTION?

If not, life becomes a futile cycle of “one step forward, then two steps back.”

- FUEL FOR THE MAGICAL MANIFESTATION MACHINE -

In the grand scheme of things, ALL thoughts, beliefs, and speech contribute to the magical manifestation machine called the Universe. Thought is the fuel that the machine needs to create individual realities. Every positive AND negative thought is registered and acted upon. The Universe doesn’t filter out so-called “good or bad” things. IT let’s you decide. This is called free-will. It is a powerful gift; a gift that most people throw away by choosing to think by default (also called ‘the lemming mentality”); instead of by design (conscious creation through controlled thought).

When negative thoughts are allowed to enter the mind through the front door (meaning: conscious, self-defeating self-talk); or through the back door (i.e., subconscious thought resulting from past training, conditioning, and experiences), even the best laid plans are doomed from the start.

Most of the time, positive and negative thoughts cancel each other out, leading to a “push-me, pull-you” situation resulting in no progress made at all. If you continue doing this, you expend tremendous amounts of precious time and life energy; only to end up where? Back to (or behind) square one!

- THE “MENTAL AVOIDER” LETS HIS GUARD DOWN -

It takes a constant “Security Thought Patrol,” stationed on the perimeter of the mind, to repel negative thoughts. The Patrol should only allow positive thoughts to enter. Your Patrol should challenge all questionable immigrants into your mind with the proverbial “Halt! Who goes there?”

Controlling your own thoughts is no small task. In fact, many people will engage in anything to keep from having to think about their thoughts. For them, any distraction (activity or person) will suffice.

Life becomes an endless parade of half-hearted attempts at success and/or multiple shallow relationships. Looking outside themselves, seeking the next tension-relieving activity, temporarily keeps them from really thinking about themselves. And even worse, it prevents them from spending their time on activities that bring them closer to achieving their ultimate life goals.

- THE VICTIM: “OH, WOE IS ME…” -

Unfortunately, even in this modern age of self-discovery and self-improvement, the victim mentality is still alive and well. The fact is that playing the victim role is too tempting and too easy for most to resist.

In the victim mentality game, all participants are conveniently absolved from any real, personal responsibility. Victims will blame everything and everybody else for their own personal plights.

The years pass. And a string of awful jobs, business failures, and broken relationships only bolster their deep depression, anger, and hopelessness.

Unless these people take full responsibility for their own lives, they will continually spin their wheels, go nowhere, and struggle against all their imagined oppressors. They don’t see that THEY ARE THE CAUSE.

Both the “mental avoider” and the “victim” are attempting something impossible. They are trying to hide from themselves. Resembling ostriches, they figuratively stick their heads in the ground and semi-hope for the best. They have mentally given up. Passion is non-existent and life is endured, not lived.

These people are truly insane; meaning: they believe things will change on their own accord WITHOUT changing their current ways of thinking and doing. Sadly, they will continue waiting for something that will never come.

It really can be different. It just takes proper planting and care. James

Allen, in his classic book “As A Man Thinketh,” tells us that the mind is like a garden. Neglect allows weeds to grow. Seeds for flowers must be planted and constant care is needed to produce a beautiful garden (and mind).

Negative thoughts, like weeds, easily spring up when nothing else is planted.

- DON’T TRY TO ERASE IT. REPLACE IT! -

Individual conditioning (past and present) plants an overabundance of repeating, negative thought. This is why so many people seem to never move forward in life.

But it’s not possible to NOT think about something! This is how Dostoyevsky used to terrorize his brother by telling him NOT to think about a “big, ferocious, white Polar Bear with sharp teeth and killer claws.”

Suggesting NOT to think about something brings about its exact image! The best way to get rid of a repetitive, negative thought is to REPLACE IT.

When I was a young man in the military, I remember the first time I was ordered to perform my first free-fall parachute evolution (mission). Even though my static line (automatic parachute deployment using an “umbilical cord” attached to the airplane) jumps were somewhat easy and fun; the thought of free-falling from a much higher altitude AND having to judge when to pull my ripcord was, to say the least, unsettling.

My Jump Master (a salty Master Sergeant) successfully used the REPLACEMENT method to cure any reticence about free-fall jumping. He would shout, “Son, Fear and Desire can not live in the same mind! Repeat after me: I WANT OUT OF THIS AIRPLANE NOW! I NEED TO JUMP NOW! …I can’t hear you! Say it again: I WANT OUT OF THIS AIRPLANE NOW! I NEED TO JUMP NOW! Go! Go! Go!

Needless to say, it worked. I exited the aircraft and immediately began flying through the air like Superman. And as the delight of free-falling filled my whole body and soul, I screamed THANK-YOOOOOO to that Big Master Sergeant above!

- DIGITAL MEDIA AND YOUR MIND -

Here’s another way of explaining the REPLACEMENT method (and why you should use it).

Think of your mind like any other form of digital storage media (i.e., internal and external hard drives, USB memory sticks, I-Pods, .mp3 players, etc.). When you believe that you’re “erasing” something on it, you really aren’t.

Any techie (or savvy computer person) will tell you that “deleting or erasing” something merely means that you “gave permission for further information to overwrite whatever is in that particular space.” In other words, until you overwrite the information, it’s still there! How do you think information recovery systems work? They all operate on the fact that initial “deletions” are merely “gate openings,” allowing information to be overwritten. Your mind operates the same way. Until you “overwrite” certain thoughts, they will always remain.

Choose your replacement thoughts carefully. The more different the replacement thought is, the better. In fact, if you can think of its opposite, use it! Replace fear with desire; replace hopelessness with certainty; and most of all replace hate with love.

- YOUR THOUGHTS: SERVICE OR SABOTAGE? -

All Law of Attraction and Science of Getting Rich gurus agree on one thing: Your thoughts can definitely serve you or sabotage you. Do your thoughts make you feel good? If they don’t, why continue to think them? Do your thoughts overtly or covertly sabotage you? Not sure? Just look at the results of your present thinking and doing. If your present results are not what you desire, why keep their underlying causes (the thoughts that created them in the first place) alive?

Many people (myself included) believe that all suffering can be traced to an error in thought. This is simply because we as powerfully thinking individuals have the ability to assign our own connotations of “good or bad” to anything in life.

If any thought makes you feel bad or uncomfortable; either replace it, or find the seed of goodness in it.

I like to combine the slogans of Naploeon Hill (the author of the classic book “Think and Grow Rich”) and Russell Conwell (founder of Temple University and acclaimed “Acres of Diamonds” lecturer) into one phrase: “In every seemingly bad situation or apparent failure is the seed for its solution. And it is this magic seed that will produce your own acres of diamonds.” There is ALWAYS something good. You just have to find it.

Think. Think hard!

After you realize that the above is true, it’s almost ridiculous to continue thinking thoughts that do not serve you. Only a masochist would purposely subject themselves to this kind of perpetual mental torture.

Why continue to think thoughts that make you feel bad? Do your feel like they are the only things that make you unique? If so, you must realize that such a belief is a form of mental, emotional, and spiritual suicide.

It is pure and utter nonsense to believe that your uniqueness is solely because of your negative thoughts. You are special because you are special. ‘nuff said. No one else is now, or will ever be, you. Accept this powerful thought. No one – and I mean no one – has the same abilities and desires that you have.

Do you think your thoughts were meant to bring you unhappiness? Do you think that some deviant, ironic, universal force planted them into your mind for the perverse pleasure of seeing your mental turmoil? OF COURSE NOT!

Your thoughts, especially thoughts about what you desire in life, are the clues to your ultimate happiness. They are the little hints that can produce life-changing results. They are whispers in the wind, co-created by you and the Universe.

I like to think of them (thoughts that serve us well) as the bread crumbs carefully placed in our life path, leading us to our own personal utopia.

Rest assured that if you weren’t capable of achieving your desires, you wouldn’t have the thoughts about them in the first place. In other words, every thought of a desire is backed by the power and possibility of achieving it.

Now, back to the main topic of having your thoughts serve you…

I’ve spent most of my life living by simple checklists. It’s not silly to use them. Airplane pilots, astronauts, and almost all successful people employ them. In fact, during my military career, following those little checklists saved my life many times.

So, here’s a checklist for you – the “Service Thought vs. Sabotage Thought” – personal checklist. It will help you decide whether a certain thought serves you or sabotages you.

By no means is this checklist “all inclusive.” Use it as the point of departure in making your own “Service Thought vs. Sabotage Thought” personal checklist. In all instances, if the answer is “no,” replace it or refine it (find the good in it).

1. Does the thought make me feel good?

2. Does the thought inspire me?

3. Does the thought energize me?

4. Does the thought motivate me to ACT?

5. Is the resultant ACTION an effective action (i.e., action that brings me closer to my life goals)?

Remember, thoughts that serve you are always positive. They lead you to the good things in life. They are exciting. They are related to your individual desires and personal passions. They point the way to creativity, not competition. They sharpen you, instead of dull you. In short, they heal, instead of hurt.

And last, but not least, THEY LEAD TO ACTION.

Question by Peace! Lotus Flower: Thoughts…?
“There is nothing more important than thought. Deed follows word and word follows thought. And where the thought is mighty and pure, the result is mighty and pure”
I’ve gotten honest and when I have Loving thoughts about myself, I can and will have Loving thoughts for others.

Imprisoned by thoughts

Have you ever realized your thoughts? When you embed your sensations in the words of a language they become thoughts. These sensations are about the world around you hence these thoughts are the gateways for this world to enter YOU. This world intrudes upon you through your thoughts.

Sit comfortably and observe your thoughts. These are either the memory of your past or desires of your future. Thoughts do not exist in present. In the present, only the existence exists. You should understand this thing.

Memories are the recollection of your that past, which is already dead in time. The future has not taken birth so far. Your desire to become rich or attain some goal in future is only a speculation. The future is unseen. And hence it may or may not be according to your thinking. It is your own experience that nature usually does not repeat itself. It is not going to repeat in future also. By concentrating on your future you are spending your time for something which is not going to happen.

Therefore neither your past nor your future is alive. The alive entity is You. You are alive here and now. Your thoughts are about everything but not about ‘here and now’. The existence of your thoughts does not coincide with your existence. Thoughts are dragging you to a dead end; to an end which is not alive.

Observe the flow of thoughts. They are always directed outwardly from you. Thoughts drain you out of you. They create a vacuum inside you after you are totally drained out. This vacuum is then filled by the thoughts of the world. When you sit, you find thoughts of office, spouse, children, neighbours, high school camping, strategies to overcome the growth of colleagues and the thoughts of every thing. But you are nowhere in your thoughts. Thought are never about you.

When you remember your past days or make plans of your promotion etc. a number of people understand that they are thinking about themselves. But this is an illusion only.

You are a living being. There are two ways to know yourself. One way is to know about you, as others do. They know you through your name, parentage, education, address, family, religion, sex, caste and several other informations about you. The second way is to know of you (not knowing about you). This is the subjective way to know of you. You know of you because of your very existence of you and not through the information provided by others.

When you think or plan a strategy about your promotion, you act on the basis of informations about you and the post and the person who is vacating that post and also the informations about other competitors in the race. All information here is only objective. You put yourself amidst the information and weigh the probability of promotion, in the same way as you are putting others in those informations. Through this thought process you reduce your being to a mathematical problem and solution. Your thoughts make you do all this. Now it is that mathematical problem in your thoughts which you mistakenly assume as being yourself. It is not you in your thoughts but it is that mathematical problem which you are mistakenly identifying as you. Thoughts are never about you.

Thoughts need not to be about you. The reason is simple. You are present now and here. You are in existence now and here. There is no need for the thoughts being about you. Thoughts are about the perceptible objects. You are not a perceptible object for you. You are the perceiver. You do not perceive about you. You need not seek any evidence of your existence. You know your existence without any proof; because you are you; because it is you who exists. This existence is yours.

Now again reappraise these thoughts. You occasionally boast of your thoughts. Some people praise you because of your thoughts. Some argue that your thoughts should be chaste and serene. But no one bothers to know if these thoughts are yours. If you say that these are your thoughts then this is a new illusion. You test it yourself if you can command your thoughts.

Sit and try to regulate the flow of your thoughts. Just try to channelize them. Try to focus your thoughts, say, on your spouse. Soon you find that you have thoughts about everything but of your spouse. Your thoughts slip away from your spouse. Again try to keep your thoughts away a particular object, say, your dog. Soon you realize that the thoughts are again encircle your dog. You try your thoughts to take away from your dog but they come again and again around and about the dog. Thoughts are like untamed beasts. They are not in your control rather you are very much in their control. Therefore your statement that your thoughts are yours is not true. However it may be true to say that you are of your thoughts.

You have unveiled your thoughts to some extent (sufficient for the purpose of this article). Your thoughts originate from perceptible objects, they oust you of you; they fill inside you the garbage of dead past and unborn future; your thoughts do not belong to you and they are not of you (don’t confuse by “of you” for “about you”); your thoughts are like un-tethered horses without any of your control over them. All your thoughts are random, flowing and turbulent.

These thoughts are not under your control. They are not of you. These thoughts are not ‘yours’. These thoughts are beyond your power. Rather you are of these thoughts. Moreover, they control you. You are completely filled with these thoughts. You cannot live without thoughts. These thoughts are swaying you in random directions in a random fashion. You are flowing in your thoughts. You are helpless before these thoughts.

These thoughts are not only overshadowing you in your awakened state but they have entered your sleep also. While with eyes opened, you have hypertension. While trying to close your eyes you have insomnia. Your thoughts have incapacitated you. You want to do but are not able to do. Your thoughts have made you pathetic.

Now you are captive of your thoughts; a prisoner imprisoned in the prison of thoughts.

Being a conscious being you need freedom. This freedom can be achieved only through the freedom from the thoughts. There are two steps in freedom.

•	First is the realization of your captivity and then

•	the second is your efforts to get free from the captivity

If you have realized the imprisonment of thoughts, then adopt the second course and write to Pratap Shreyas at his website lightinlife.com to know the right efforts to get freedom from the imprisonment of thoughts. But if still you have some ambiguity in realization your imprisoned state then you better write to Pratap Shreyas at his website lightinlife.com about the ambiguities and get them cleared.

Thought power is the key to creating your reality. Everything you perceive in the physical world has its origin in the invisible, inner world of your thoughts and beliefs. To become the master of your destiny, you must learn to control the nature of your dominant, habitual thoughts. By doing so you will be able to attract into your life anything you desire with exact precision as you come to know the Truth that your thoughts create your reality.

For Every Outside Effect There is an Inner Cause: Every effect you see in your outside or physical world has a very specific cause which has its origin in your inner or mental world. This is the essence of thought power. Put another way, the conditions and circumstances of your life are as a result of your thoughts and beliefs. James Allen said it best when he said “circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him”. Every aspect of your life, from the state of your finances to the state of your health and your relationships, is accurately revealing your thoughts and your beliefs.

It’s an Inside Job: Most people have it back to front, believing that they feel or think a certain way because of their circumstances, not knowing the truth that it is their thought power that is creating those very circumstances, whether wanted or unwanted. By internalizing and applying this Truth, that your thoughts create your reality, you will grant yourself the power to create the changes you desire to see manifest in your life. Reality creation is an inside job.

Your Thought Power is Limitless: There is a single, intelligent Consciousness that pervades the entire Universe – all powerful, all knowing, all creative and present everywhere at the same time – the Universal Mind. Your mind is part of this One Universal Mind and since your thoughts are a product of your mind, it follows that your thought power too is limitless. Once you truly understand that your mind is one with the Single Source of All Power and that this power is within you, you will have found the only true source of infinite power for which nothing is impossible and impossible is nothing. Know that thought power comes from within. All power comes from within.

Your Thoughts are Alive: The greatest mystics and teachers that have walked the Earth have told us that everything is energy. This fundamental Truth has now been undeniably confirmed by modern science. Your thoughts too are energy. William Walker Atkinson told us that “where mind is static energy, thought is dynamic energy – two phases of the same thing” and Charles Haanel went on to say that “thought power is the vibratory force formed by converting static mind into dynamic mind”. Your thoughts are alive. Each time you entertain a specific thought, you emit a very specific, corresponding frequency or energy vibration.

What Frequency Are You On: The basic premise of the Law of Attraction is that like energy attracts like energy. You attract to yourself those things and circumstances that are in vibrational harmony with your dominant frequency, which is itself determined by your dominant mental attitude, habitual thoughts and beliefs. Mike Dooley, one of the presenters of the movie The Secret, fittingly suggests if you want to know what a thought looks like, just look around you. Keep in mind his three words “thoughts are things”.

Not All Thoughts Are Created Equal: The attractive power of any particular thought is determined by how often you have that thought and by the strength of the feelings or emotions associated with it. The more energy you give to a particular thought, the greater its power to attract its corresponding circumstance into your physical world through the Law of Attraction. Your one-off, passing thoughts do not have the same creative power as your habitual thoughts and beliefs. Remember, that it is of little use to entertain positive thoughts for just a short burst of time each day if you then proceed to think negative or unwanted thoughts for the rest of the day. Your reality is the sum total of all your thoughts.

Use Thought Power to Change Your Life: It is your subconscious mind that is the store house of your deep-seated beliefs and programmes. To change your circumstances and attract to yourself that which you desire, you must learn to programme and re-programme your subconscious mind. Since your mind is one with the all-powerful Universal Mind, the potential power of your subconscious mind is also limitless. The most effective and practical way to programme your subconscious mind for success in all areas of your life is to learn the simple process of creative visualization. It is the technique underlying reality creation, making use of thought power to consciously imagine, create and attract that which you desire. Your imagination is the engine of your thoughts. It converts your thought power into mental images.

Become Aware of Your Thoughts But Not Obsessed: It is important that you learn to be aware of your habitual thoughts and to appropriately adjust them so as to maintain an overall positive mental attitude. However, be careful not to become obsessed with every thought that enters your mind as this would be equally counter-productive, if not more so, than not being aware of them at all. Remember that to obsess over your negative, unwanted thoughts, is to give them power and as the saying goes, what you resist persists. So instead of resisting any of your negative thoughts, simply learn to effortlessly cancel them by replacing them as they arise.

Instantly Replace Unwanted Thoughts: To instantly neutralize the power of a negative thought, calmly and deliberately replace it with its opposite, positive equivalent. For instance if you think to yourself “I’m not good enough, I will never succeed”, mentally replace the thought with “I am good enough and success comes to me easily”. You can also use the “cancel cancel” technique made famous by the Silva Method. Each time you catch yourself thinking an unwanted thought, mentally tell yourself and the Universe “cancel cancel” and immediately follow it up with a positive statement.

Tame Your Dominant Thoughts and the Random Will Follow: It is estimated that the average person has between 12,000 and 70,000 thoughts a day. This is evidence enough to suggest that your goal should not be to control every thought. It is your dominant thoughts and beliefs that you must learn to bring under your conscious control as they are what largely determine your mental attitude. As you do, you will find your random thoughts themselves becoming more positive and more deliberate.

The following words of Siddhartha Gautama Buddha perfectly capture the essence of thought power: “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”

In a nutshell, your life is the perfect mirror of your thoughts, beliefs and dominant mental attitude. Whether you realise it or not you are already creating your reality through your thought power. Every effect you see in your outside world has its original cause within you – no exceptions. To gain access to the greatest creative power at your disposal, you must learn to control the nature of your habitual thoughts and to align yourself with the One Source of All Power of which you are a part. Your thoughts create your reality – know, internalize and apply this Truth and you will see your life transform in miraculous ways.

Higher Selves Quote:

The Thought Form Body is an invisible body that contains realities that have been created through every thought generated by any individual at any point in time. Within this envelope [energy field] dwells many different ‘yous.’ There is the ‘you,’ for example, who lives in this altered reality as an actual energy identity who is poor, who has no money. This altered reality has been created by you based on every thought you’ve projected dealing with a state of financial lack.

This altered reality that is the ‘you’ in a state of financial lack actually seeks to reinforce and empower itself, the altered reality that it has become. This then, quite outside of your conscious thought process, allows that altered reality to continue to grow and manifest its power and its authority over you in the physical form in the physical reality.

Imagine what it would be like to hold on to every thought you have ever had from the first moment you were born. Imagine that each thought was actual energy that did not disappear but hung out in some energy field surrounding you. And imagine that this thought energy had some magnetic qualities so that every type of thought you’d had over the years drew all other similar thoughts to it, like magnets with the same polarity. Then imagine that all these thoughts, or energy identities, have created actual altered realities in the space around yourself. And as you grew up, these energy identities, and the altered realities they created, became larger and larger with each thought.

To illustrate, let’s begin with an example of how thoughts create energy identities and how these, in turn, create altered realities.

Perhaps you’re someone who has focused on your weight throughout your life. Maybe as a small child you went through a chubby stage, and sometimes people around you would suggest that you refrain from a second helping. At first you paid it no mind, but then your consciousness took it in. You began to think that you were bigger than your cousins and friends the same age. You started thinking thoughts of needing to eat less candy and desserts. You found yourself rating how some friends or family members looked based on their weight. The issue built slowly for you as you went through being teased in school.

As an adult, you’ve struggled with your weight, trying diet after diet with limited success. And all this time, you’ve been harboring thoughts about being overweight. These similar thoughts are magnetically attracted to each other, building thought forms such as “I’m too fat,” “I eat too much,” “I’m a failure at losing weight,” and/or “I’m unlovable because I’m fat.” All these thought forms tirelessly develop an altered reality of your struggling with your weight.

Thought Form Body

Thoughts of every type have created thought forms in each of us. They come in all sizes—some tiny and some huge, with many in between, depending on the degree of thought put into them. As the Higher Selves stated in the above quote, the invisible envelope (energy field) around us, the place where these positive and negative energy identities call home, is the Thought Form Body. It isn’t actually a physical body but is instead held in an etheric energy field everyone carries with them. It contains all the thoughts of joy, fear, love, hate, hurt, illness, wealth, poverty, and ideas of the self, others, relationships, work, play, and on and on. All thoughts are held here, magnetically attracting similar thoughts from many sources, thereby building and strengthening all of our thought forms. They create all the altered realities that live with us in our Thought Form Body.

Suspending disbelief for a minute, let’s take this a few steps further by looking at how our mind works. Do we tend to think more positively or negatively as we go throughout our day? Most of you know the answer to this already.

For example, if we wake up feeling good, having had a good night’s sleep, we might think, “Oh, I feel great today! I have so much energy; I’m sure this will be a good day.” And then we go on our way and may never think of it again. Despite feeling really good, we actually tend to spend little time thinking about it. Feeling good helps us focus on the things we have to accomplish that day, resulting in thoughts geared toward those activities other than the state of feeling good.

But what happens if we sleep poorly and wake up with a backache, headache, or stiff neck? Don’t we often express a litany of complaints about it to friends or co-workers? And if a repairman or deliveryman comes by and politely asks, “How are you,” what do we say? If we feel good, we most likely just say, “Fine, and you?” But if our neck still hurts, we say, “Well, since you asked, I am having a bad day, starting with . . .”

The tendency to dwell on the negative outweighs our tendency to think positively, and every day we do so we strengthen those misery magnets. This means that when we look at the balance or the ratio of negative energy identities to positive ones, the scale weighs heavily on the negative side. This serves none of us well.

Drive to Manifestation

Thought forms are soulless and mindless. They lack consciousness. However, they carry the power of magnetic attraction. This magnetic energy is working 24/7. In fact, it does not just attract our own thoughts but all similar thoughts from many sources, including other people. This is not a conscious act any more than an actual magnet consciously attracts. What is the result of all this attraction?

The result of magnetic attraction is that the energy identities (and the altered realities they create) continue to build in strength. At the point that they’re strong enough, they manifest into our physical reality. In fact, their sole purpose is to manifest. The manifestation process from all of our energy identities is what forms our outer expression or, in other words, our lives.

For example, if it is cold and rainy outside, we may think throughout the day that we have to keep warm and dry so we don’t get sick. We see ads on TV about various cold remedies, which remind us to check what we have on hand just in case. We remember the time last year when we got the worst cold ever and had to miss work. Flu season is here and we plan to get a flu shot. We believe that all schools are breeding grounds for illnesses and have no patience for parents who send their children to school with a cold. We also believe that we are susceptible to every germ with which we come in contact. In this way, we are empowering our illness thought form (one that we already have) over and over again. And what do you know? Despite all our efforts to prevent it, we come down with a massive cold two weeks later and blame it on the time we spent helping out at our daughter’s pre-school.

In fact, getting sick was a result of the altered reality of illness gaining enough strength to manifest itself in our physical reality as a cold. It attracted the opportunity when you were asked to volunteer to read to your child’s pre-school class. This then triggered and empowered your beliefs (based on your thoughts) that you were now exposed to the germs that you were convinced would make you sick. And they did.

Isn’t it just that colds are contagious? No. If that were the case, every teacher, parent, and student who came in contact with children would get sick. Each individual responds to each situation based on what thought forms he/she is creating for him/herself. That is why some children/teachers have perfect attendance and others are chronically sick or somewhere in between. Of course, this process is more complex than I have presented. But the basic principles are the same.

Other examples are: If you have a large victim thought form, it will magnetically attract conditions that will make you a victim once more. If you have a failure pattern, the thought forms will bring in situations that will again result in failure. If you bring in mates that make you crazy with their infidelity, the thought forms may keep you in a cycle of betrayal. Thought forms are the source for the patterns we have in our lives.

Habit Body

In addition to the Thought Form Body, we also carry a Habit Body. The Habit Body is another invisible envelope of energy (field) surrounding us that contains imprints of every thought and every action. Thoughts create energy identities and habit imprints simultaneously. And as the imprints of similar thoughts get deeper and deeper, they become our most ingrained habits. As we smoke/worry/procrastinate/and so on, the imprints/ruts are reinforced again. In other words, the depth of a habit imprint in the Habit Body is relative to how often we have thought the thought and/or acted—the deeper the rut, the more automatic and intense the habit. There are no energy identities in the Habit Body, but the habit imprints empower the thoughts and vice versa.

Have you ever noticed that you wake up five mornings out of seven at the exact same time? Or that you get a cup of coffee without thinking before you start any project? Or that you put on your left shoe before your right one every morning? These are simple, repetitive habits that are easy to see and are relatively harmless in the scheme of things. Of course, we all have deeper and more complicated ones, so it is very important that we pay attention to all our habits. These habit imprints work with Thought Forms to reinforce our patterns. These two working together are in part what makes it so difficult to change things about ourselves with which we are unhappy. The more ingrained a habit, the more we act on it and think about it. The thought form gains power and then manifests again – and then again.

One of my habits for over ten years was to sleep only three or four hours a night. Once I’d wake up, I would never be able to go back to sleep, resulting in chronic exhaustion. Fortunately, by doing the exercises that the Higher Selves taught us, I was successful at changing this pattern, and those sleepless years are now a distant memory. Now I sleep at least five to six hours a night with few exceptions. I still wake up many nights, but the difference is I go back to sleep. Of course, five or six hours are not enough. Fortunately, I have continued to improve, sleeping seven plus hours a night at least three times every week. Habits can be changed, and you can do it too.

The Overall Picture

Remember that we live as humans in a Free Will Kingdom, that we choose how our lives unfold. If something happens that changes our thought patterns for a day or week, we will empower different energy identities and habit imprints and will, therefore, manifest differently than we did in prior weeks.

One example many can relate to is the unexpected death of a young friend or family member. The new vulnerability we now feel may make us realize that we have been complacent about life. As a result, we decide to focus more on preventing illness by eating healthy food and exercising. We also become more open to telling our family every day how much we love them and perhaps resolve to work harder to be a better person so that there are no regrets if we die young. Were we thinking this way before? No, but we are now. So our energy identities and habit imprints are changing as a reflection of the changes in our thought patterns.

What is more significant, however, is how often we are determined to change only to find our old habits return. How many of us with great intentions find ourselves back in the same place within days/weeks/months? How many times have we had to use the same New Year’s resolution because we didn’t accomplish it this year or the prior years? Why are there so many new diets on the market, multiple no-smoking aids, a myriad of solutions for depression, insomnia, etc? Why are there so many self-help books? Because for all our grand efforts and deep desire to change, we predictably find ourselves back in the same place, having made little lasting forward movement. This does not feel good. There are reasons why change is so hard and there is more to it than just thinking positive thoughts. Let’s take a look at the Law of Attraction.

The Law of Magnetic Attraction Clarified

Higher Selves Quote:

Thought forms are what carry the impact of what you will outwardly manifest. This is not a process that will be reached through affirmations or through consciously speaking words. For the process of thought forms is one that goes very, very deep. Thought forms are carried from lifetime to lifetime so that the buildup of these “altered realities” is very intense and very powerful.

What exactly is the Law of Attraction? It seems to be the basis of many metaphysical self-help books (including The Secret) and even has its place in some religious teachings. Simply stated, it posits that thoughts are energy and are magnetic in nature. They attract to you situations and people that match your predominant thoughts, whether conscious or unconscious. The bottom line, therefore, is like attracts like. The more positively you think, the more positive your life will be. Every individual is responsible for what they bring into their lives. Is there more to it than this? Yes.

There needs to be more than positive thought to create real change in your life. Of course, there are people who have changed their thoughts from the negative to positive, who have brought more good into their lives than before. But what does it mean for those of us who didn’t find success by thinking positively, yet worked as hard or harder than the others who did? What about those who achieved results but didn’t recognize that what they got was either the exact right result (even if unexpected) or that it was only the first step in a process that would lead them to the final goal? What about the patterns that keep recurring in life despite the efforts to change them? Or the emotional upheavals that make us behave in ways we’re not proud of?

What has been missing in the prior teachings on the Law of Attraction is the fact that it has not been fully understood. The Higher Selves didn’t change the Law. They explain how it works. And there are two misconceptions that need to be cleared up. The first one is that a positive thought does not negate or replace a negative thought. It only empowers the positive energy identities while the negative ones remain to also magnetically attract negative situations, conditions and people into our lives. Because we harbor so much more of the negative, the positives we empower through our thoughts are still extremely weak compared to the powerful negatives.

The second misconception is that even if you never think a negative thought ever again, it doesn’t mean that the negative energy identities go away. Once created, the thought energy exists forever. Leaving those negative altered realities in place is what makes it so difficult for us to change. Whether negative or positive, the energy remains in place in our etheric bodies as thought forms and habit imprints. When these are positive, we can rejoice. When they are negative, we are concerned with what we do about them. What we must do is to neutralize the negative energies to render them harmless and incapable of magnetically attracting anything that could hurt us. Neutralizing the negatives and using that energy to empower our light is the key to change. Again, the Higher Selves didn’t change the Law of Attraction but added details about how it functions.

The Shift From Victim to Taking Charge

Once we accept that we are living in a Free Will Kingdom, and that we are making both conscious and unconscious choices that create our experiences, we can find our way to take responsibility for what happens to us. So the shift goes from blaming someone, something or some event for our problem/s to looking at ourselves and asking, “Why did I bring this into my life?” “How can I change this reality?” Or “How can I prevent it from happening again?”

There is no judgment here. We are not all screw-ups who just can’t get it right. Instead, we acknowledge that we are all experiencing the human condition. Everyone has challenges to face, joys to experience, moments of wonder and moments of despair. What will be explained is the way to be actively involved in how your life unfolds. There is no magic pill to take and presto . . .you have changed. If it took years and lifetimes to develop our patterns, undoing these patterns won’t be instantaneous. However, with consistent effort, we can change our patterns, find what was hidden and untapped, and definitely improve our lives significantly.

In a year from now we will all be one year older. We can still be in the same place, coping with the same issues. Or we can use the simple Higher Self techniques and make this year and every year a witness to us becoming much more of what we want to be. We understand our conscious choices. And now we understand how our own thought forms and habit imprints, through the process of magnetic attraction, work with our conscious choices to create the outer expression we call our lives. Someone else isn’t creating our lives. It isn’t Mother Nature, your jerky boss, or a vindictive god picking on you. We are busy making and playing out our patterns consciously and unconsciously, then, taking what life gives us and handling it as best we can. Now is the time to be in charge but it is wrong to just focus on the positive and neglect the negative. There are techniques available to enable us to do the neutralizing we need to do. We are not doomed. We are not stuck. We are not powerless.

An author and personal coach, Janet Richmond’s book: “Choices-Neutralizing Your Negative Thoughts and Emotional Blueprints” details a process which allows each individual to find they have the power and the ability to break the patterns that keeps so many people stuck in the same place year after year. Richmond successfully coaches (on a one-on-one basis) and also teaches (to groups) the life-changing technique of how to neutralize the negative thought forms everyone carries.

The phrases “thought leader” and “thought leadership” seem to be everywhere today. What exactly is a thought leader?

It’s tricky because the phrases “thought leader” and “thought leadership” are new and trendy. Some such phrases have “stickiness” meaning that they stay around for a long time, possibly even becoming part of our every day vocabulary. I think these phrases have this “stickiness” and we’re going to see them around for a long time.

There is of course, another question. Are you a thought leader?

Here are a few thoughts on what characterizes thought leaders:

Thought leaders are not so by virtue of a title or a job; they are so because of who they are and how they think and behave.
Thought leaders think deeply about issues; they think them through from beginning to end and understand issues profoundly.
Thought leaders”walk the talk”, not pontificate on a point.
Thought leaders communicate their thoughts; they don’t just keep them inside.
Thought leaders are eloquent, clear communicators. No rambling. No disjointed thoughts. They know how to get the point across.
Thought leaders shares their ideas and knowledge generously.
Thought leaders are courageous enough to share their thoughts despite criticism.
Thought leaders are wise enough to allow themselves to be challenged by others, and to challenge their own assumptions, too.
Thought leaders influence how others think and what they believe.
Thought leaders inspire trust; they don’t demand it.
Thought leaders are trend-setters and idea-shapers.
Thought leaders have excellent reputations, or they build an excellent reputation as they go along.
Thought leaders are passionate, but not pushy.
Thought leaders are forward-thinking.
Thought leaders are innovative.
Thought leaders are confident, but not cocky.
Thought leaders are sincere.
Thought leaders are authentic.
Thought leaders take a stand.
Thought leaders are consistent with their message.
Thought leaders challenge others to think in new ways and try new things.
Thought leaders can share the same message in a variety of ways. They don’t sound like a broken record.
Thought leaders have longevity. They are not “here today and gone tomorrow”.
Thought leaders are compassionate. They understand the human situation and feel it deep in their soul.
Thought leaders are driven to make a difference.
Thought leaders believe in the possibility of transformation.
Thought leaders believe in others’ potential.
Thought leaders are lifelong learners; they learn constantly and enjoy doing so.
Thought leaders have charisma not because of a great smile or chiseled features, but because they offer something fresh and new.
Thought leaders are forward-focussed, allowing the past to inform, but not impede their thoughts.
