Woo-Woo Person: “I’ve been doing all the visualizations, affirmations, and negativity purging; but nothing is happening. I’m still broke!”

Prosperity Mentor: “Does your thinking lead to any ACTION?”

Woo-Woo Person: “Well…not much, yet. But isn’t the time and energy I spent on the other stuff enough?”

Prosperity Mentor: “If your thinking doesn’t lead to action, how can you be prepared to jump on opportunities that lead you to your dream life?

What can you give now to the person capable of giving you what you desire? Remember, that person will expect something in return. And that something must be of equal or greater value.

Do you have it?”

Woo-Woo Person: “Hmm…?”

The Woo-Woo Person is at one end of the “Think – Do Spectrum”. The other extreme is the No-Think, Purely Practical Person (but that’s a discussion for another article.)

The Woo-Woo Person believes that thought is all that’s needed to manifest his desires. But when Woo-Woo People aren’t manifesting their desires, the big question is this: Are they really thinking in the Certain Way? That is, are they thinking in a way that serves them best; a way that ensures prosperity, a way that is congruent with their whole being? And most importantly, does their thinking lead to ACTION?

If not, life becomes a futile cycle of “one step forward, then two steps back.”

- FUEL FOR THE MAGICAL MANIFESTATION MACHINE -

In the grand scheme of things, ALL thoughts, beliefs, and speech contribute to the magical manifestation machine called the Universe. Thought is the fuel that the machine needs to create individual realities. Every positive AND negative thought is registered and acted upon. The Universe doesn’t filter out so-called “good or bad” things. IT let’s you decide. This is called free-will. It is a powerful gift; a gift that most people throw away by choosing to think by default (also called ‘the lemming mentality”); instead of by design (conscious creation through controlled thought).

When negative thoughts are allowed to enter the mind through the front door (meaning: conscious, self-defeating self-talk); or through the back door (i.e., subconscious thought resulting from past training, conditioning, and experiences), even the best laid plans are doomed from the start.

Most of the time, positive and negative thoughts cancel each other out, leading to a “push-me, pull-you” situation resulting in no progress made at all. If you continue doing this, you expend tremendous amounts of precious time and life energy; only to end up where? Back to (or behind) square one!

- THE “MENTAL AVOIDER” LETS HIS GUARD DOWN -

It takes a constant “Security Thought Patrol,” stationed on the perimeter of the mind, to repel negative thoughts. The Patrol should only allow positive thoughts to enter. Your Patrol should challenge all questionable immigrants into your mind with the proverbial “Halt! Who goes there?”

Controlling your own thoughts is no small task. In fact, many people will engage in anything to keep from having to think about their thoughts. For them, any distraction (activity or person) will suffice.

Life becomes an endless parade of half-hearted attempts at success and/or multiple shallow relationships. Looking outside themselves, seeking the next tension-relieving activity, temporarily keeps them from really thinking about themselves. And even worse, it prevents them from spending their time on activities that bring them closer to achieving their ultimate life goals.

- THE VICTIM: “OH, WOE IS ME…” -

Unfortunately, even in this modern age of self-discovery and self-improvement, the victim mentality is still alive and well. The fact is that playing the victim role is too tempting and too easy for most to resist.

In the victim mentality game, all participants are conveniently absolved from any real, personal responsibility. Victims will blame everything and everybody else for their own personal plights.

The years pass. And a string of awful jobs, business failures, and broken relationships only bolster their deep depression, anger, and hopelessness.

Unless these people take full responsibility for their own lives, they will continually spin their wheels, go nowhere, and struggle against all their imagined oppressors. They don’t see that THEY ARE THE CAUSE.

Both the “mental avoider” and the “victim” are attempting something impossible. They are trying to hide from themselves. Resembling ostriches, they figuratively stick their heads in the ground and semi-hope for the best. They have mentally given up. Passion is non-existent and life is endured, not lived.

These people are truly insane; meaning: they believe things will change on their own accord WITHOUT changing their current ways of thinking and doing. Sadly, they will continue waiting for something that will never come.

It really can be different. It just takes proper planting and care. James

Allen, in his classic book “As A Man Thinketh,” tells us that the mind is like a garden. Neglect allows weeds to grow. Seeds for flowers must be planted and constant care is needed to produce a beautiful garden (and mind).

Negative thoughts, like weeds, easily spring up when nothing else is planted.

- DON’T TRY TO ERASE IT. REPLACE IT! -

Individual conditioning (past and present) plants an overabundance of repeating, negative thought. This is why so many people seem to never move forward in life.

But it’s not possible to NOT think about something! This is how Dostoyevsky used to terrorize his brother by telling him NOT to think about a “big, ferocious, white Polar Bear with sharp teeth and killer claws.”

Suggesting NOT to think about something brings about its exact image! The best way to get rid of a repetitive, negative thought is to REPLACE IT.

When I was a young man in the military, I remember the first time I was ordered to perform my first free-fall parachute evolution (mission). Even though my static line (automatic parachute deployment using an “umbilical cord” attached to the airplane) jumps were somewhat easy and fun; the thought of free-falling from a much higher altitude AND having to judge when to pull my ripcord was, to say the least, unsettling.

My Jump Master (a salty Master Sergeant) successfully used the REPLACEMENT method to cure any reticence about free-fall jumping. He would shout, “Son, Fear and Desire can not live in the same mind! Repeat after me: I WANT OUT OF THIS AIRPLANE NOW! I NEED TO JUMP NOW! …I can’t hear you! Say it again: I WANT OUT OF THIS AIRPLANE NOW! I NEED TO JUMP NOW! Go! Go! Go!

Needless to say, it worked. I exited the aircraft and immediately began flying through the air like Superman. And as the delight of free-falling filled my whole body and soul, I screamed THANK-YOOOOOO to that Big Master Sergeant above!

- DIGITAL MEDIA AND YOUR MIND -

Here’s another way of explaining the REPLACEMENT method (and why you should use it).

Think of your mind like any other form of digital storage media (i.e., internal and external hard drives, USB memory sticks, I-Pods, .mp3 players, etc.). When you believe that you’re “erasing” something on it, you really aren’t.

Any techie (or savvy computer person) will tell you that “deleting or erasing” something merely means that you “gave permission for further information to overwrite whatever is in that particular space.” In other words, until you overwrite the information, it’s still there! How do you think information recovery systems work? They all operate on the fact that initial “deletions” are merely “gate openings,” allowing information to be overwritten. Your mind operates the same way. Until you “overwrite” certain thoughts, they will always remain.

Choose your replacement thoughts carefully. The more different the replacement thought is, the better. In fact, if you can think of its opposite, use it! Replace fear with desire; replace hopelessness with certainty; and most of all replace hate with love.

- YOUR THOUGHTS: SERVICE OR SABOTAGE? -

All Law of Attraction and Science of Getting Rich gurus agree on one thing: Your thoughts can definitely serve you or sabotage you. Do your thoughts make you feel good? If they don’t, why continue to think them? Do your thoughts overtly or covertly sabotage you? Not sure? Just look at the results of your present thinking and doing. If your present results are not what you desire, why keep their underlying causes (the thoughts that created them in the first place) alive?

Many people (myself included) believe that all suffering can be traced to an error in thought. This is simply because we as powerfully thinking individuals have the ability to assign our own connotations of “good or bad” to anything in life.

If any thought makes you feel bad or uncomfortable; either replace it, or find the seed of goodness in it.

I like to combine the slogans of Naploeon Hill (the author of the classic book “Think and Grow Rich”) and Russell Conwell (founder of Temple University and acclaimed “Acres of Diamonds” lecturer) into one phrase: “In every seemingly bad situation or apparent failure is the seed for its solution. And it is this magic seed that will produce your own acres of diamonds.” There is ALWAYS something good. You just have to find it.

Think. Think hard!

After you realize that the above is true, it’s almost ridiculous to continue thinking thoughts that do not serve you. Only a masochist would purposely subject themselves to this kind of perpetual mental torture.

Why continue to think thoughts that make you feel bad? Do your feel like they are the only things that make you unique? If so, you must realize that such a belief is a form of mental, emotional, and spiritual suicide.

It is pure and utter nonsense to believe that your uniqueness is solely because of your negative thoughts. You are special because you are special. ‘nuff said. No one else is now, or will ever be, you. Accept this powerful thought. No one – and I mean no one – has the same abilities and desires that you have.

Do you think your thoughts were meant to bring you unhappiness? Do you think that some deviant, ironic, universal force planted them into your mind for the perverse pleasure of seeing your mental turmoil? OF COURSE NOT!

Your thoughts, especially thoughts about what you desire in life, are the clues to your ultimate happiness. They are the little hints that can produce life-changing results. They are whispers in the wind, co-created by you and the Universe.

I like to think of them (thoughts that serve us well) as the bread crumbs carefully placed in our life path, leading us to our own personal utopia.

Rest assured that if you weren’t capable of achieving your desires, you wouldn’t have the thoughts about them in the first place. In other words, every thought of a desire is backed by the power and possibility of achieving it.

Now, back to the main topic of having your thoughts serve you…

I’ve spent most of my life living by simple checklists. It’s not silly to use them. Airplane pilots, astronauts, and almost all successful people employ them. In fact, during my military career, following those little checklists saved my life many times.

So, here’s a checklist for you – the “Service Thought vs. Sabotage Thought” – personal checklist. It will help you decide whether a certain thought serves you or sabotages you.

By no means is this checklist “all inclusive.” Use it as the point of departure in making your own “Service Thought vs. Sabotage Thought” personal checklist. In all instances, if the answer is “no,” replace it or refine it (find the good in it).

1. Does the thought make me feel good?

2. Does the thought inspire me?

3. Does the thought energize me?

4. Does the thought motivate me to ACT?

5. Is the resultant ACTION an effective action (i.e., action that brings me closer to my life goals)?

Remember, thoughts that serve you are always positive. They lead you to the good things in life. They are exciting. They are related to your individual desires and personal passions. They point the way to creativity, not competition. They sharpen you, instead of dull you. In short, they heal, instead of hurt.

And last, but not least, THEY LEAD TO ACTION.

How do your thoughts serve you, my friend?

Question by Peace! Lotus Flower: Thoughts…?
“There is nothing more important than thought. Deed follows word and word follows thought. And where the thought is mighty and pure, the result is mighty and pure”
Gandhi

Using my day to reflect on my thoughts, especially the self-defeating ones! How when I’m not content with myself, how I find the need to project these thoughts into feelings and then on to others.
I’ve gotten honest and when I have Loving thoughts about myself, I can and will have Loving thoughts for others.
I tend to be more tolerant and accepting. Not so annoyed and unwilling to patient and kind.
What about you?
Do you ever ponder how your thoughts, postive and negative,
effect your outlook on life and the people around you?
Brightest Blessings

Imprisoned by Thoughts

Imprisoned by thoughts

Have you ever realized your thoughts? When you embed your sensations in the words of a language they become thoughts. These sensations are about the world around you hence these thoughts are the gateways for this world to enter YOU. This world intrudes upon you through your thoughts.

Sit comfortably and observe your thoughts. These are either the memory of your past or desires of your future. Thoughts do not exist in present. In the present, only the existence exists. You should understand this thing.

Memories are the recollection of your that past, which is already dead in time. The future has not taken birth so far. Your desire to become rich or attain some goal in future is only a speculation. The future is unseen. And hence it may or may not be according to your thinking. It is your own experience that nature usually does not repeat itself. It is not going to repeat in future also. By concentrating on your future you are spending your time for something which is not going to happen.

Therefore neither your past nor your future is alive. The alive entity is You. You are alive here and now. Your thoughts are about everything but not about ‘here and now’. The existence of your thoughts does not coincide with your existence. Thoughts are dragging you to a dead end; to an end which is not alive.

Observe the flow of thoughts. They are always directed outwardly from you. Thoughts drain you out of you. They create a vacuum inside you after you are totally drained out. This vacuum is then filled by the thoughts of the world. When you sit, you find thoughts of office, spouse, children, neighbours, high school camping, strategies to overcome the growth of colleagues and the thoughts of every thing. But you are nowhere in your thoughts. Thought are never about you.

When you remember your past days or make plans of your promotion etc. a number of people understand that they are thinking about themselves. But this is an illusion only.

You are a living being. There are two ways to know yourself. One way is to know about you, as others do. They know you through your name, parentage, education, address, family, religion, sex, caste and several other informations about you. The second way is to know of you (not knowing about you). This is the subjective way to know of you. You know of you because of your very existence of you and not through the information provided by others.

When you think or plan a strategy about your promotion, you act on the basis of informations about you and the post and the person who is vacating that post and also the informations about other competitors in the race. All information here is only objective. You put yourself amidst the information and weigh the probability of promotion, in the same way as you are putting others in those informations. Through this thought process you reduce your being to a mathematical problem and solution. Your thoughts make you do all this. Now it is that mathematical problem in your thoughts which you mistakenly assume as being yourself. It is not you in your thoughts but it is that mathematical problem which you are mistakenly identifying as you. Thoughts are never about you.

Thoughts need not to be about you. The reason is simple. You are present now and here. You are in existence now and here. There is no need for the thoughts being about you. Thoughts are about the perceptible objects. You are not a perceptible object for you. You are the perceiver. You do not perceive about you. You need not seek any evidence of your existence. You know your existence without any proof; because you are you; because it is you who exists. This existence is yours.

Now again reappraise these thoughts. You occasionally boast of your thoughts. Some people praise you because of your thoughts. Some argue that your thoughts should be chaste and serene. But no one bothers to know if these thoughts are yours. If you say that these are your thoughts then this is a new illusion. You test it yourself if you can command your thoughts.

Sit and try to regulate the flow of your thoughts. Just try to channelize them. Try to focus your thoughts, say, on your spouse. Soon you find that you have thoughts about everything but of your spouse. Your thoughts slip away from your spouse. Again try to keep your thoughts away a particular object, say, your dog. Soon you realize that the thoughts are again encircle your dog. You try your thoughts to take away from your dog but they come again and again around and about the dog. Thoughts are like untamed beasts. They are not in your control rather you are very much in their control. Therefore your statement that your thoughts are yours is not true. However it may be true to say that you are of your thoughts.

You have unveiled your thoughts to some extent (sufficient for the purpose of this article). Your thoughts originate from perceptible objects, they oust you of you; they fill inside you the garbage of dead past and unborn future; your thoughts do not belong to you and they are not of you (don’t confuse by “of you” for “about you”); your thoughts are like un-tethered horses without any of your control over them. All your thoughts are random, flowing and turbulent.

These thoughts are not under your control. They are not of you. These thoughts are not ‘yours’. These thoughts are beyond your power. Rather you are of these thoughts. Moreover, they control you. You are completely filled with these thoughts. You cannot live without thoughts. These thoughts are swaying you in random directions in a random fashion. You are flowing in your thoughts. You are helpless before these thoughts.

These thoughts are not only overshadowing you in your awakened state but they have entered your sleep also. While with eyes opened, you have hypertension. While trying to close your eyes you have insomnia. Your thoughts have incapacitated you. You want to do but are not able to do. Your thoughts have made you pathetic.

Now you are captive of your thoughts; a prisoner imprisoned in the prison of thoughts.

Being a conscious being you need freedom. This freedom can be achieved only through the freedom from the thoughts. There are two steps in freedom.

• First is the realization of your captivity and then

• the second is your efforts to get free from the captivity

If you have realized the imprisonment of thoughts, then adopt the second course and write to Pratap Shreyas at his website lightinlife.com to know the right efforts to get freedom from the imprisonment of thoughts. But if still you have some ambiguity in realization your imprisoned state then you better write to Pratap Shreyas at his website lightinlife.com about the ambiguities and get them cleared.

Thought power is the key to creating your reality. Everything you perceive in the physical world has its origin in the invisible, inner world of your thoughts and beliefs. To become the master of your destiny, you must learn to control the nature of your dominant, habitual thoughts. By doing so you will be able to attract into your life anything you desire with exact precision as you come to know the Truth that your thoughts create your reality.

For Every Outside Effect There is an Inner Cause: Every effect you see in your outside or physical world has a very specific cause which has its origin in your inner or mental world. This is the essence of thought power. Put another way, the conditions and circumstances of your life are as a result of your thoughts and beliefs. James Allen said it best when he said “circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him”. Every aspect of your life, from the state of your finances to the state of your health and your relationships, is accurately revealing your thoughts and your beliefs.

It’s an Inside Job: Most people have it back to front, believing that they feel or think a certain way because of their circumstances, not knowing the truth that it is their thought power that is creating those very circumstances, whether wanted or unwanted. By internalizing and applying this Truth, that your thoughts create your reality, you will grant yourself the power to create the changes you desire to see manifest in your life. Reality creation is an inside job.

Your Thought Power is Limitless: There is a single, intelligent Consciousness that pervades the entire Universe – all powerful, all knowing, all creative and present everywhere at the same time – the Universal Mind. Your mind is part of this One Universal Mind and since your thoughts are a product of your mind, it follows that your thought power too is limitless. Once you truly understand that your mind is one with the Single Source of All Power and that this power is within you, you will have found the only true source of infinite power for which nothing is impossible and impossible is nothing. Know that thought power comes from within. All power comes from within.

Your Thoughts are Alive: The greatest mystics and teachers that have walked the Earth have told us that everything is energy. This fundamental Truth has now been undeniably confirmed by modern science. Your thoughts too are energy. William Walker Atkinson told us that “where mind is static energy, thought is dynamic energy – two phases of the same thing” and Charles Haanel went on to say that “thought power is the vibratory force formed by converting static mind into dynamic mind”. Your thoughts are alive. Each time you entertain a specific thought, you emit a very specific, corresponding frequency or energy vibration.

What Frequency Are You On: The basic premise of the Law of Attraction is that like energy attracts like energy. You attract to yourself those things and circumstances that are in vibrational harmony with your dominant frequency, which is itself determined by your dominant mental attitude, habitual thoughts and beliefs. Mike Dooley, one of the presenters of the movie The Secret, fittingly suggests if you want to know what a thought looks like, just look around you. Keep in mind his three words “thoughts are things”.

Not All Thoughts Are Created Equal: The attractive power of any particular thought is determined by how often you have that thought and by the strength of the feelings or emotions associated with it. The more energy you give to a particular thought, the greater its power to attract its corresponding circumstance into your physical world through the Law of Attraction. Your one-off, passing thoughts do not have the same creative power as your habitual thoughts and beliefs. Remember, that it is of little use to entertain positive thoughts for just a short burst of time each day if you then proceed to think negative or unwanted thoughts for the rest of the day. Your reality is the sum total of all your thoughts.

Use Thought Power to Change Your Life: It is your subconscious mind that is the store house of your deep-seated beliefs and programmes. To change your circumstances and attract to yourself that which you desire, you must learn to programme and re-programme your subconscious mind. Since your mind is one with the all-powerful Universal Mind, the potential power of your subconscious mind is also limitless. The most effective and practical way to programme your subconscious mind for success in all areas of your life is to learn the simple process of creative visualization. It is the technique underlying reality creation, making use of thought power to consciously imagine, create and attract that which you desire. Your imagination is the engine of your thoughts. It converts your thought power into mental images.

Become Aware of Your Thoughts But Not Obsessed: It is important that you learn to be aware of your habitual thoughts and to appropriately adjust them so as to maintain an overall positive mental attitude. However, be careful not to become obsessed with every thought that enters your mind as this would be equally counter-productive, if not more so, than not being aware of them at all. Remember that to obsess over your negative, unwanted thoughts, is to give them power and as the saying goes, what you resist persists. So instead of resisting any of your negative thoughts, simply learn to effortlessly cancel them by replacing them as they arise.

Instantly Replace Unwanted Thoughts: To instantly neutralize the power of a negative thought, calmly and deliberately replace it with its opposite, positive equivalent. For instance if you think to yourself “I’m not good enough, I will never succeed”, mentally replace the thought with “I am good enough and success comes to me easily”. You can also use the “cancel cancel” technique made famous by the Silva Method. Each time you catch yourself thinking an unwanted thought, mentally tell yourself and the Universe “cancel cancel” and immediately follow it up with a positive statement.

Tame Your Dominant Thoughts and the Random Will Follow: It is estimated that the average person has between 12,000 and 70,000 thoughts a day. This is evidence enough to suggest that your goal should not be to control every thought. It is your dominant thoughts and beliefs that you must learn to bring under your conscious control as they are what largely determine your mental attitude. As you do, you will find your random thoughts themselves becoming more positive and more deliberate.

The following words of Siddhartha Gautama Buddha perfectly capture the essence of thought power: “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”

In a nutshell, your life is the perfect mirror of your thoughts, beliefs and dominant mental attitude. Whether you realise it or not you are already creating your reality through your thought power. Every effect you see in your outside world has its original cause within you – no exceptions. To gain access to the greatest creative power at your disposal, you must learn to control the nature of your habitual thoughts and to align yourself with the One Source of All Power of which you are a part. Your thoughts create your reality – know, internalize and apply this Truth and you will see your life transform in miraculous ways.
